Editorial standard

Evidence before assertion.

Navigation traduite · édition éditoriale en anglais

China Rights Record is an independent news and archive project. We do not treat a social-media post, anonymous claim or edited clip as established fact.

1. Find the original

We trace screenshots and reposts back to the earliest accessible post, document or recording.

2. Verify identity, time and place

We check account history, timestamps, landmarks, weather, official records and independent witnesses where available.

3. Separate claim from finding

Allegations, official responses, documentary facts and our analysis are labelled separately.

4. Protect people

We remove unnecessary personal details and do not expose private addresses, contact information or vulnerable witnesses.

5. Correct visibly

Material updates and corrections remain attached to the record with a date.

Scope and independence

The project examines actions by Chinese state and party institutions that may affect internationally recognized rights. It does not equate the Chinese government with China, Chinese culture or Chinese people. Official responses and competing evidence are included when available.
