On August 31, 2026, Chinese Human Rights Defenders marked the fourth anniversary of the UN Xinjiang assessment by urging the Human Rights Council and member states to continue scrutiny.
The 2022 UN human rights office assessment found serious violations and said the extent of arbitrary and discriminatory detention may constitute international crimes, particularly crimes against humanity.
